Welcome to
Red Rock Sights!
The world famous Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is
located in Morrison, Colorado. Red Rocks is a
one-of-a-kind entertainment venue. It was once
listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
Travel fifteen miles west from Denver on
Interstate-70 and head south on Highway 93 to view
the majesty of the red sandstone formations. The
amphitheatre can seat over nine thousand people and
is part of the eight hundred acre Red Rocks Park.
Red Rocks Park is in Jefferson County, but is owned
and run by the Denver Mountain Parks System.
The area was once called the Garden of the
Angels in 1870. By 1906, it was called Garden
of the Titans. When the city of Denver bought
the property for over $54,000 in the late
1920’s, it was renamed Red Rocks. The Civilian
Conservation Corps helped build the
amphitheatre from the design by architect
Burnham Hoyt. The amphitheatre was designed to
help emphasize and protect the natural rock
acoustics and beauty. A panoramic view of
Denver and the open plains can be seen in the
distance. On a very clear day, Denver
International Airport can be seen over forty
miles away. Admission is free from five in the
morning to eleven each night everyday. On
concert days, the park closes at five o’clock
to tourists. Concerts by many famous
performers have taken place at Red Rocks since
1906. There are many hiking trails throughout
the park.
